‘’Could it be you calling me down? My foolish heart turns out in stars, All that I am, is all that you see, you don’t need nobody else and you’re putting this all on me.’’
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again; the problem with mainstream music today is the lack of epic transfixing trumpet solos; a problem Submotion Orchestra, a 7 piece from Leeds, seem to be trying to rectify. Their latest single ‘All yours’ off of their debut album ‘Finest Hour’ (out now) has an epic trumpet solo and much more. If you like your dub to sound like something from Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side of The Moon,’ then put away your Emalkay and Flux Pavilion and give ‘All Yours’ a crack.
Listening to it at 12am on a summer’s night is Shangri-La, from the brooding deep bass drum beat; encompassed with heavenly vocals and a decent dub drop, to that infamous trumpet solo, what more do you want? a donk? Forgive me for sounding like a fan boy, but having seen Submotion live, I was completely hooked, and dangerously close to proposing to lead vocalist Ruby Wood. I’ll be front row for their set at WOMAD festival later this week; I’ll probably pop the question then.
The Acoustic version of ‘All Yours’ is available to download for free here:
